Main Difference
A person can have many type of relations with another person either in shape of love or business purposes or friendship. And at the same times all are can be different from each others also. A good relation based on foundation of good understating, consensus, compromising and caring for each other either it is a family, love or friendship matter. Your collective behavior will decide the tenure of your association.
Friendship
Basically friendship is a type of relationship in which two are more persons got friendly with each other, cares for each others, freely share any good news or bad news with each other. How will you find that who is your best friend? The person who comes in mind first in case of good or bad matters is in fact your best friend. It is not an easy play. Many qualities are required for a good friendship like honesty, trustworthiness, loyalty, compromise, unconditional favor and acceptance. A real friendship is one in which both of the parties try to makes a happy relationship. Meeting regularly is not necessary for friendship because there are many examples in which close friends even meet after a long years and still remains a good friends.
Relationship
Relationship is a massive term in which all kinds of relations like love, friendship, relatives, etc. are included. It can be in form of blood, marriage, social or business form. Social relationship, interpersonal relationship, intimate relationship and ethical relationship are kind of relationship. It can be in legal form or deliberate action. For example your relationship with your family members or extended family members is a legal, natural or inherited relation. You cannot deny this and they are your family members not by your choice. While your business relations, organization membership, community membership, relations with society or marriage out of family are kinds of deliberate relationship in which you choose to make relation with another person.
Key Differences
Relationship is more wider term than friendship. Even friendship is emerged from relationship.
Relationship can be in two form natural or deliberate while friendship is always in deliberate form and people choose friends by their sole intention.
Good friendship is the sign of good relation as well but good relationship does not means that there exists friendship also.
Relationship always has legal aspect for example in case of dispute between business parties, family disputes or inheritance problems you can seek the help of law and enforce the legal values also. But in case of friendship there is no legal value. You cannot legally challenge the mutual consideration in case of friendship.
Level of trustworthiness, loyalty and trust in friendship is more than relationship.
People are more open about emotions, feelings and expectations in friendship in comparison to relationship.
Most of the relationship cases are based on win-lose situation while friendship always based on lose-win or win-win situation.
